Current methods of primary examination to reveal syphilitic patients in the Russian Federation

Abstract

Association of polymorphism of IL12B gene and predisposition to psoriasis among the populationof the Northwestern region of Russia

Abstract
The IL12B gene encodes protein р40 being a common subunit of interleukin-12 and interleukin-23 playing an important part in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. The IL12B gene has polymorphism rs12188300, which can be associated with the risk of psoriasis development. The goal of the study was to assess the distribution of alleles of polymorphism rs12188300 in psoriatic patients in the Northwestern region of Russia. Genotyping was carried out using the real-time allele-specific polymerase chain reaction. An increased occurrence of a rare allele T in psoriatic patients as compared to healthy people was observed (OR = 1.96, р = 0.0007). The occurrence of the rare allele T in patients with psoriatic arthritis was higher than in the control group (OR = 3.49, р = 0.005). These results suggest that rs12188300 polymorphism of the IL12B gene is a new genetic marker of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Assessment of the BRAF status in patients with skin melanoma

Abstract
Skin melanoma is an aggressive malignant neoplasm. Mutation of the BRAF gene, BRAF V600E, is observed in more than 70% of melanoma cases. Assessment of the BRAF status in patients suffering from skin melanoma is an important stage in patient screening for selection of further therapy. To reveal the mutation of BRAF V600E, 27 histology samples taken from patients with skin melanoma residing in the Krasnodar territory were examined by means of defining the Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PFLP assay). Our studies revealed the BRAF V600E mutation in 26 of 27 histology samples of skin melanoma. It was shown that the mutation is not associated with any sex-related, age-related, clinical and pathological features of the tumor.

Up-to-date immunology methods for examination of the cerebrospinal fluid in patients sufferingfrom neurosyphilis

Abstract
The authors conducted a comparative study of the diagnostic value (sensitivity, specificity, efficiency and predictive value of positive and negative results) of immunology methods (microprecipitation test, RPR, complement-fixation test, immunofluorescence test with whole spinal fluid, ELISA, passive hemagglutination test, Treponema pallidum immobilization test, immunoblotting) for studying the cerebrospinal fluid in 37 neurosyphilitic patients and 31 patients with syphilis in the anamnesis but without any clinical and laboratory data confirming the syphilitic affection of the nervous system. The highest diagnostic efficiency indices for neurosyphilis were noted for such methods as microprecipitation test (80.9%), passive hemagglutination test (98.5%) and immunoblotting (97.0%), which enables the authors to recommend the methods as standard neurosyphilis diagnostics methods in the territory of the Russian Federation. It was revealed that antibodies for pale treponema antigens Tr17 and Tr47 were detected in the course of immunoblotting most often regardless of any clinical manifestations and duration of the syphilitic infection. The authors set the priorities for individual examination methods when diagnosing asymptomatic, early and late meningovascular neurosyphilis. They also developed a diagnostic algorithm for detecting neurosyphilis based on the sequential application of ELISA/immunoblotting, microprecipitation test and passive hemagglutination test.

Abstract
The authors present the results of a study of efficiency of Skin-Cap in treatment of withdrawal dermatitis after application of topical glucocorticosteroids. The study involved 46 patients who had topical corticosteroids applied on their face skin in the anamnesis, who were divided into two groups depending on the therapy. The efficiency of treatment was assessed based on the dynamics of the Dermatological Index of Symptom Scale (DISS). A comparative assessment of the efficiency of treatment with the use of the Skin-Cup cream and non-specific antiinflammatory drugs showed the highest efficiency of application of activated zinc pyrithione, which was became apparent in reliably more intensive reduction of the DISS and certain subjective and objective symptoms of the inflammatory reaction. Good results of the study substantiate the expediency of administration of Skin-Cap in treatment of patients with symptoms of withdrawal dermatitis as this drug facilitates the course of the disease and results in faster elimination of the inflammation. Application of the cream containing activated zinc pyrithione makes it possible to avoid administration of system drugs.
